‘Idea box’

I am so addicted to crafts, every time I saw one I’ll go gaga over it while imagining how to create my own. But as my day pass by I realize that all my ideas was just an imagination and I feel this urge that I want to finished something so I decided to create this one thing called “idea box” wherein I ‘m going to put all my ideas or ideas from people that inspires me.. then turn it to reality. Yeah! I am inspired for a while and I think this “idea box’ will help turn my imagination to reality.

Barbie doll clothes out of the fabrics I cut from my old jeans

Remember my previous blog about Skimpy short wherein my old fashion jeans turns out to be a hippy skimpy short. May be your wondering what I do with the fabrics I cut from my jeans. Did you think I made it a rag or throw it in a trash? Of course not, there’s something more about recycling your old jeans. here it is...

I decided to Make a Barbie doll clothes out of the fabrics I cut from my jeans.

My childhood days are unforgettable because I use to play Barbie dolls and a lot of toys. As the usual, kids are meant to break the toys given from their parents, but I am not in the same story, when I was still in grade school I learn how to sew my own stuff like a broken pillowcase and shorts. One of the reason I enjoy holding a scissor, a needle, a blade and thread, but my mom always scold me seeing me holding a scissor because she already know that I will cut off my laced socks just to make clothes for my dolls. My mom worries and gets mad at me because I always end up having a wounded finger. In fact I still see the scars in my fingers until now seeing this scars make me remember how much my mom loved me because of her patience.

I just started collecting Barbie dolls when I graduated in college and finally land a job. I guess it is way back 7 or 6 years ago. I decided to collect dolls, dresses, accessories and miniature things for my dolls. I still consider that every woman can think back to her childhood and reminisce about their favorite dolls. As they say “for every person there’s a hidden child wants to play”. And though I am not a kid anymore I still collect Barbie dolls and sometime plays in it... ;) And if I have an extra time I still take pleasure creating Barbie clothes.

Here are the snapshots of my doll collections
featuring my own craft dresses out of my old jeans.

Make your very own Skimpy Shorts

(From Crap to Craft)

Skimpy shorts are hip, trendy and turns out to be a standard nowadays and we can’t deny the fact that wearing shorts is very comfortable, I guess having awesome skimpy shorts can be expensive, unless you know how to make them yourself. The procedure is actually quite simple. Here’s my step by step procedure of creating one.

My Yellow Checkered Jeans that running out of style..

1. Just scuffle your closet for old jeans that most likely you don’t use anymore.

2. Decide how short you want it to be cut-off.

3. Mark where you'd like to cut them.

4. Lay the pants flat on a hard surface.

5. Look for the mark and use measuring tape to make sure about the length

6. Now cut the pants leg on both sides.

7. Fold the tip of pants leg on both sides.

8. Grab your needle and thread and start sewing the folded tip.

9. Try the jeans on to make sure they are the way you like them.

10. There you have it your very own skimpy short.

Here’s a picture of mine wearing my very own yellow checkered skimpy short.

Clay Stuff

Clay art... sounds interesting I saw a lot of accessories, key-chains, ball-pen, displays, figurines etc. that made out of clay or comes out with clay in it...
It catches my eyes as it catches my heart.

I supposed to buy one but, honestly I always have this thought before buying any art and craft stuff.
"Why not create my own?" not being rude, But I could say I am confident to do some craft and stuff that occasionally not so useful and somehow can be useful

As I grew up as a typical kid, I really enjoy my childhood specially handicrafts session, as far as I remember pre-school and elementary school requires art subjects. I have no choice but to enjoy the great creation of this thing called art.

I don't yet try using handcrafts for profits, but I am looking forward to it.
And for now I still consider myself a hobbyist’s hand-crafter..
Well I guess I need more practice.

So here I am again doing a childish thing. Some stuff made out of clay. Enjoy ;)

Stuffed toy.. How did it came out?

Stuffed toy is a toy sewn from cloth, plush, or other textiles, and stuffed with straw, beans, plastic pellets, cotton, synthetic fibers, or other similar materials. Stuffed toys are also known as plush toys (U.S. English) from plush, the outer material used, and soft toys or cuddly toys (British English). They are made in many different forms, often resembling animals, legendary creatures, cartoon characters or inanimate objects.

Some stuffed animals are very old – home made cloth dolls stuffed with straw go back to at least the 1830s, perhaps much older. The most well known type of stuffed toy is likely the teddy bear. They are often used as comfort objects.

History
The term 'stuffed animal' historically referred to stuffing of the evacuated skins of hunted animals. The phrase is still sometimes used to refer to such examples of taxidermy. However, with modern technology it is now possible to produce them with synthetic materials. For this reason, plush toys or plushies (U.S. English) or soft toys (British English) may be more appropriate terms for modern, synthetic stuffed animals.

The first commercial concern to create stuffed toys is apparently the Steiff company, founded in 1880 in Giengen an der Brenz, Germany.

Among the most popular types of classic stuffed animals are teddy bears and sock monkeys.

Today
Stuffed animals are bought for a variety of reasons. Some are bought for display. They can also be given as gifts, such as for graduation, Valentine's Day, birthdays, any kind of special day, or just as an expression of thought.

For me its a hobby
I'm a stuffed toy collector
mostly Winnie the pooh
and sometimes I sew my own stuffed
called mumu dolls.

MUMU dolls Craft your own

Here are some few steps in making your very own MUMU DOLL

1.Create a basic shape of the doll figure you want on a piece of paper. Find some fabric. You can use your old sweat shirt.

2.Sketch the doll on a piece of paper about the size of the doll you would like. The finished result will end up being slightly smaller than your pattern.

Notes:
The larger ones are easier to do. This is because of the details such as arms, legs and eyes. A good size is a regular sheet of paper (8 1/2 x 11) but bigger is good too (tape two sheets together on the long edge).

3.You can search google for the images you like to create then Sketch it out. The doll really needs to be symmetrical about the vertical centerline, so you can sketch half and fold the paper in half and cut out a paper doll pattern. Fold your fabric so you can cut both the front and back at the same time.

4.Place the paperdoll on the fabric. You will cut around the paperdoll leaving more than an inch (the amount is not critical because we will sew the pattern precisely in the next step).

5.You do not have to cut the details of the arms and legs so the pieces after you make this cut will not look like the doll.

6.After you have made the rough cut, take the piece that will be the front, and sew on the eyes (use the original picture of the doll you like for inspiration and basic location). Sew the mouth and teeth. You can use any white fabric. The mouth is often just black straight stitching.

7.After the face is on, put the front and back together with the RIGHT sides together inside (you will see the backside stitching of the face). Pin the pattern on. Sew very close to the paperdoll pattern edges, leaving a small gap unsewn for inverting the doll and stuffing. This sewing step will give you the detail for arms, head bumps, legs, etc...

8.After you are done with the sewing, trim the fabric to ~ 1/4" from the outside of the stitches. After you get the doll inside out, stuff it with polyester (or old socks for that matter) and sew up the seam that you left open.

You just made an MUMU doll!
